What Causes Nasty Taste In My Mouth After Losing Voice Due To Cough?

I lost my voice for almost 2 weeks, with an annoying mucousy cough. For the past few years, I have been getting this nasty taste in my mouth, even after I brush my teeth. I have to sleep with trident gum, so that when I wake up at anytime, I just chew to subside the nasty taste.

Thanks for using Health Care Magic.

Read your query.

The nasty taste in your mouth suggests a few things like the presence of calculus, food debris and stains in the mouth. There can be inflammation of the gums (gingivitis) which may cause this taste.A infection in the throat can also be the cause of a nasty taste.

I would advice you to visit your local dentist and get it cleaned, followed by using a chlorhexidine mouth wash.Maintain your teeth by proper brushing and flossing.

If you have a throat infection, please get the appropriate treatment from the ENTsurgeon.

Hope this was useful.

Thanks and regards.
