Hi
Thanks for choosing HCM for your query.
I appreciate your concern for this patient with
nausea due to Anti TB medications.
Well, nausea and
vomiting do occur during the course of treatment of TB.
Red color of the vomitus is due to the drug
Rifampicin, nothing to worry about it, it is a harmless change of color.
Rule out other causes of nausea and vomiting:
Another fact is most of the Anti TB medications are known to cause liver injury resulting in pain abdomen, nausea, vomiting and sometimes
jaundice.
Liver function tests are done to rule out the possible liver toxicity.
If the lab results reflect the liver injury, may be your patient has to use alternate medications for TB.
You are advised to visit your treating doctor for the clinical assessment of the patient.
Meanwhile ask your patient to take
Zofran atleast one hour before taking the Anti TB medications.
