Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a friend who has 3 distinct symptoms: spits up a lot of mucus[ it is white], burps a lot, constant nausea, cannot keep food down. It has been going on 3 weeks. She had a very bad infection previously was on antibiotic drip for 2 days . Then she caught a very bad flu. So far all the tests came back negative.
Hello...... Whatever you told, it seems to be more than one disease. Mucoid sputum more than 3 weeks is suggestive of some definite pathology of respiratory system specifically involvement of airway tract. You mention regarding infection but did not mention the infection of what?? And you received incomplete dose of injectable antibiotics that is also very bad thing. It causes resistance development. After antibiotics, if any body got flu then it means either it is viral or some resistant infection. It will be taken care seriously and find out the cause. The gastric symptoms you have mentioned. may be the side effects of injectable antibiotics or due to viral pathology.
In summary, go for specific tests for respiratory systems along with throat swab culture sensitivity and take good coverage of antibiotics with appropriate dose and schedule.
