What Causes Nausea And Giddiness In A Diabetic Patient?
hi doctor!! my name is varsha and my question is regarding my dad s health.he is of 67 yrs of age and has diabetes past 25 years plus.he also had a bypass in 1994.and recently he was advised to take insulin at night .he also has thyroid which is a case of hypo .he lately has lost taste for food and feels very weak in the morning and often complains of nausea and giddyness specially in the morning.kindly suggest what can be the reason for feeling giddy and nausea.his spondolitis test etc show normalcy. my email id : YYYY@YYYY
Dear varsha i can understand your concern i am very sorry about the condition of your father. the very important thing to be considered in this kind of scenario is low sugars. since insulin has been started so we can expect relative hypoglycemia. i suggest you to check his blood sugar levels in morning. During initiation of insulin this kind of symptoms are quite normal in some patients but its important to check the sugars and confirm that there is no severe hypoglycemia. in case the fasting blood sugar is just above or around 120 mg/dl then its ok. if the sugar is going lower than 100 i suggest you to consider reducing insulin 2 units in night time and speak with treating doc. Hope I was able to help you. If you have any further question feel free to write me back. I will be happy to help. Take care. Best Regards. Dr Vamsi Krishna Consultant Diabetologist Apollo Hospitals
