Hi, I am 68 yes old and had to have a hysterectomy because of a prolapsed uterus. It has been 5 days now but after surgery, I couldn t eat anything because of nausea so I thought I would have lost weight but to my surprise 2 days after surgery, I had put on 10 lbs. I feel bloated all the time and still not eating too good. Why would I put on all that weight? I am heavy anyway and it scares me to put on that much wright at one time
noted history of hysterectomy and post-operative nausea and bloatedness. what are the medications you are currently taking in (analgesics or antibiotics) post-hysterectomy? some of the pain relievers and antibiotics may cause nausea and gastric upset. also, ambulation and movement as tolerated is recommended for your abdominal organs to recover its motility and function after the surgery. these symptoms if experienced should be tolerable in character and resolving spontaneously. if the symptoms are persistent/progressive, a follow-up with your doctor/gynecologist is best for a thorough physical examination and clinical evaluation. diagnostics (such as ultrasound, scout film of the abdomen, blood count, electrolyte levels, etc.) and management will be directed accordingly.
hope this helps.
good day!!
