Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
71 year old male. Non-smoker. Alcohol consumption 2 beers daily.I developed nausea, emesis, diaphoresis and tachycardia about 1 hour after walking 3.5 miles in one hour. Heart rate between 116 and 120 bpm. no way to check bp. 4 to 5 episodes of emesis in about one and one half hours. Negative for fever.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Nausea, emesis, diaphoresis and tchycardia to the tune of 116 - 120 on walking 3.5 miles can be due to the following reasons: Cardiac problems along with respiratory problems can cause such symptoms. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Rush to ER as there is raised heart rate and you can not know the blood pressure. This is so because it is utmost important to come to a conclusion about the probable diagnosis. This is done by a clinical evaluation by a Doctor, EKG, tests of blood, stool and urine. Further investigations as per the clinical evaluation and thus get the proper plan of treatment. Till then have a PPI like Omeprazole, antacid and plenty of oral fluids. Rest in bed till you visit a Doctor. It is better to see a Doctor asap or rush to ER.
