What Causes Neck And Shoulder Pain?

Hi. I am a 33 year old Caucasian female, and I have been experiencing a pin prick sensation in my left trapezius about 3.5 inches lateral from midline at about the level of T1. The sharp pain is very intense (just like being quickly poked with a needle) and only lasts a second or two. It occurs intermittently, maybe 1-2 times per week. I do carry a lot of tension in my shoulders (L slightly R) and have for about 12-15 years. Additionally, I have a slightly raised mole in the area but it has been present for my entire life and is unchanged. What would you expect the underlying cause to be? Thank you.

Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you are having pin prick sensation in left trapezius. I treat my such patients by local triamcilone injection and analgesics such as ibuprofen. Its root cause can be muscle pull. Anxiety is generally contributing factor. Anxiolytics such as alprazolam are helpful. You also need to checked your vitamin D3 and VitaminB12 level because sometimes their deficiency may contribute.You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.
