Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, Yesterday my friends and I were jumping from a rather high surface (8 feet or so) down onto a heavily padded landing zone. I landed on the back part of my feet and felt a jolt of pain through my back and neck. The pain subsided rather quickly, and I went back to normal activity, but this morning when I woke up my neck and upper back were hurting very badly. Is this normal or should I see a doctor? Thanks

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query.
From description , it seems you might developed muscular or ligamentous strain over back . I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. You may get the MRI of the area affected under his/her guidance. Meanwhile following measures will help with the pain • Lie on a hard bed. • Anti -inflammatory drugs like Tablet Motrin 1 tablet as and when required • Avoid forward bending. • Avoid strenuous activity & lifting heavy weights. • Apply diclofenac gel on the affected area. Warm compresses will also help.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
