What Causes Neck Stiffness And Ear Pressure While Having A Migraine?

Background: Had a heat stroke Saturday -vommiting, headache, and stiffneck. Mon-Wed rested all day, vomitting stopped. Thursday scheduled an apptmnt with Dr. All week had headache and stiffneck. After 7 days, went to church, got home and vomitted. Question: I had a stiffneck and headache for 7 days now. Went to see the Dr Thursday and told me it was just migraine. I asked about the stiffneck and pressure in my ear and she said, due to the heatstroke i had Saturday, the stiffneck and ear pressure will not go away for days or even weeks. Is that normal?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

According to history provided you are having stiff neck along with headache. So meningitis like presentation is there and if fever is present than brain infection should be ruled out. For that your physical examination should be done and kernig sign should be tested. If needed then meningitis should be ruled out by further work up. If no fever is present and after examination no meningitis is suspected then it could be simple migraine. Ear examination also should be done. Consult physician for examination.
