What does chlorine give me nose bleeds? When I go swimming and get the pool water in my nose I get a nose bleed. Today the janitors at my school chlorine-bleached the bleachers and after breathing in the fumes for about a half hour I had an approximately 12 minute nose bleed. It was a constant stream of blood and also the longest nose bleed I have ever had. Am I allergic to chlorine?
Hello Chlorine is an irritant to nasal mucosa. Reading your complaints I feel you have hypersensitivity to chlorine. Try to put Bactroban ointment over the inside of your nose. put nasal saline sprays before and after swimming. -Dr Rao
