What Causes Nose Bleeds While On Simvastatin?

I am 61 years old and have taken simvastatin for maybe 8 years or more. I have had 8 spontaneous nose bleeds in the last 4 days. I have low blood pressure, so do my sisters. Could simvastatin be the cause? Any other reason for this. Some of the nose bleeds occured when I was asleep, bending over, and at a movie theatre while watching a movie

Hi.
Thanks for your query.

You have 8 incidences of nosebleeds in 4 days, with normal or low blood pressure. and you still have not seen the Doctor in ER or preferably an ENT Surgeon.
I would advise you the following:
See an ENT Surgeon first as getting the correct diagnosis is very important.
This alone can give a plan for proper treatment.
In the meantime instill Otrivin nasal drops, keep an ice cube in the nouth and apply Ice packs on the nose.
Take rest
use recliner to sleep.
Do not blow the nose at all.

I hope this answer helps you.
