What Causes Numbness And Shock In Lip After Accidental Biting?
I have a really bad habit of biting the inside of my mouth sibconciously and this time I bit my lower right lip on the inside, It did not seem bad but when I bit it again it sent what felt like a shock through my lip. Later without realization I did it again, and again it shocked me. That part of my lip and the surroundings are now numb and I don t know what happened. What do you think happened?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have habit of biting your lip and you are feeling sensation of shock and numbness on your lip . Well there can be may reasons for lip numbness like inflammation , hematoma formation or nerve damage like mental nerve . But in your case it seems to me that symptoms are due to nerve damage . I would suggest you to apply warm compresses to lip , do not bit your lip again , apply moisturizer and do not touch it with dirty hands . If condition doesn't get better in 2-3 days then consult oral surgeon for proer examination . Doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory , vitamin C supplement for quick recovery and perform minor surgery to correct the defect .
