What Causes Numbness In Hand/arm While Having High Blood Pressure And Diabetes?

Hello. I am a 53 year old female who is 5 1 and weighs 160 lbs. I have controlled high blood pressure and I am type 2 diabetic. I have no insurance as my husband hasn t been able to find work in over a year, and we only have his unemployment as income. I am experiencing numbness in my right hand (only right side), and up into my right arm to just below shoulder level. I don t have to tell you that this is concerning as well as constant since I woke up this morning. I would appreciate any assistance, as my father was an aortic valve recipient and that makes it more alarming. Thank you for your time.

Hello madam
Numbness you are experiencing is most probably due to diabetes.
Over the period of time over 60% of diabetics develop nerve damage (diabetic neuropathy) resulting into symptoms like numbness , tingling sensations , pain etc.

I would recommend you to do blood sugar profile and depending upon your test results achieve normal blood sugar level with lifestyle modification with or without anti diabetic drugs.

Numbness may also be due to nerve compression due to pressure if u slept on right side last light .
