Hello,
While there are many reasons that could cause
facial numbness such as migraines, the most pressing issue is to rule out a small
stroke that could have caused her symptoms.
Although it is rare for a stroke to affect the face so specifically it is necessary to rule it out. Also, although unlikely a
tumor in the brain needs to be ruled out.
To do that she should have an
MRI of the brain with and without contrast. I would also recommend getting an MR-Angiogram of the head and neck to evaluate the blood vessels in the brain and neck.
If it is not possible for her to have an MRI, then a
CT scan of the brain should be performed with and without contrast as well as a CT-Angiogram of the head and neck.
I'm sorry that this may sound alarming but those possibilities need to be ruled out first, before other causes are considered.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
