What Causes Numbness In Left Arm While Laying Down?

My left arm goes numb and feels funny about 2 or 3 hours before I lay down to go bed at night and while I am trying to fall asleep. Im a 22 yr old female with no injuries to this arm. It feels like from my shoulder to wrist isnt there anymore, but I can move my fingers and still grasp objects. Im becoming concerned because its starting to interrupt my sleep now and needed an answer.

Hello,

This looks more of the tightness of the trapezius muscle which tends to have spasm in many people due to bad posture in standing or sitting . Due to the spasm and abnormal posture there is a tendency of nerve compression leading to such symptoms. Two important things to follow:
1. Correct the posture
2. Release the trapezius spasm by using hot water bag

Post this, you can perform some trapezius strengthening exercises and neck strengthening exercises which can help to get rid of the symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
