What Causes Numbness In The Foot While On Simvastatin?
I had a total knee replacement 12 months ago in addition I had two revision surgeries the last one on Nov 28 2016. I continue to have level 3 or 4 pain in the tendons especially going up and down stairs. I am a very robust active 77 year old. I ski play squash climb mountains bike plus other activities. Since my replacement my legs always feel tired and I have had numbness in my operated foot. I take 40mg of Simvastatin at night before bedtime every day. I am thinking of stopping Simvaststin for awhile what is your opinion? Thanks, Allan Silverstein
After going through your query I understand your concern.
I would like to tell you that simvastatin is a cholesterol lowering drug that has nothing to do with the numbness in the foot. Predominantly it looks like peripheral nerve block on the incision site and now causing numbness.
It recommended to personally consult your orthopeditian or a neurologist for further treatment.
Hope to have been helpful.
Kind Regards Dr. Navneet Bansal
