What Causes Numbness In The Legs?

My sister is 53 yrs.old born with tumor on back and operated on at 1 yrs. old Leaving her with out bladder control and no feeling on one of her lower legs, giving her a club foot. About 3 yrs. ago had a surgery on her back for a tethered spine also dealing with pain. Surgery did not help that much because although she doesn t have back pain now her good leg and foot are in extreme pain. No amt. of meds. can help now. Her good foot is also going numb on the outside and she is losing her balance a lot. She has no bladder or bowel control either. Is there any trial tests out there that she can join and receive help? Please help my sister. Paula

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Sir your sister probably had spins bifida at birth.
Her surgeries may not have helped much, which is understandable as these are complex procedures with guarded results. For pain better consult a pain specialist. The other person of help could be a physiotherapist.
