Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i was in the er and am a very hard stick. they stuck me 11 times finally going in my neck for an iv line, they tried once in the side of my hand by my thumb and also in the underside of my wrist (very painful) today i am having numbness in the top of my thumb
I have studied your case. Due to IV line in your neck there can be numbness on thumb. Another possibility due to compression of nerve root there is tingling numbness in your arm and fingers pain associated with it. I will advise you to MRI cervical spine for better diagnosis.
For these symptoms analgesic and neurotropic medication can be started. Till time, avoid lifting weights, Sit with support to back. You can consult physiotherapist for help. Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief. I will advise to check your vit B12 and vit D3 level.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. If you are satisfied with answer do not hesitate to rate this answer at end of discussion.
Wishing you good health.
Take care.
