Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My six year old has been complaining that her feet fall asleep on a very frequent basis. This has been happening for several months now and I have noted that it isn't always when she has been siting for very long. I'm wondering if I should be concerned about it?
You should be concerned enough to go in for a visit to her pediatrician, but I am thinking that the doctor won't find anything as this is a very non-specific symptom. It has to do with the nerves that supply her legs with sensation, and these nerves are connected to the spine and get blood supply from the heart. Does she have any spinal symptoms/deformties? Any problems with running, walking or any other movements when she is playing or performing normal activities? Does she have any overt vitamin deficiencies? If all these are not relevant, stop worrying.
