What Causes Numbness On Tongue With Loss In Sense Of Taste?
I have had numbness on the right half of my tongue for 12 days now. I have no sense of taste on that portion of my tongue as well. All my blood test results are normal, except the S-immunoglobulin E is supposed to be between 0 and 85. Mine is 184. Does this mean I have an allergy? I ve only taken an oral dose of amoxycillin about a month ago for flu. Surely that can t be an allergic reaction as its weeks later that I developed the symptom? Please help.
Hello, A common infection that alters your sense of taste is an oral yeast infection. This is a fungal infection. Look at your tongue to see if it is red or has a coating. You can try to take some acidophilus. If you cannot get relief see your dentist for a prescription of an antifungal medication such as Nystatin. I do not expect this to be an allergic reaction to amoxicillin. You could have another allergic reaction to a change in products used, diet other medications or a deficiency in vitamins. Please check your blood test results and address any vitamin deficiencies. Other disorders such as a gastric disorder or diabetes are possible. Trauma such as the burn can affect your sense of taste. Also, make sure you are well hydrated. It is very important that you have adequate intake of liquids and drink plenty of water. I thank you for your inquiry and hope you find my suggestions useful.
