What Causes On And Off Sore Throat With Hoarse Sound?

I have never had any environmental allergies or allergies of any kind. I am 62 years old. HX of thrush for a year that does not respond to treatment. Since May 10th of this year, my voice has been very hoarse to the point of almost not being able to talk. My throat has been sore off & on for a few weeks. I go to the dentist regularly, the last time was April for a complete exam & then May 7th for in-office tooth whitening. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of no allergies but treatment for thrush for a year that does not respond to the treatment.
Now the voice has become hoarse, almost unable to talk, throat is sore and going to dentist regularly for complete exam and tooth whitening.
The commonest causes of untreatable thrush may be local or general.
-Locally the causes can be loss of integrity and strength of oral mucosa due to deficiency of vitamins and minerals.
General causes can be diabetes, steroids, any disease that reduces the immunity.
You have to get all the investigations done to find the basic cause, get it treated.
