My friend had a hip replacement on this past Monday..released on Wednesday. She has problems with incontinence... just called that she removed the dressing and the surgical site was oozing....then she cleaned it with clorax.....states she feels ok and will think about going to her doctor on Monday. I am worried about this
Hi. As per your case history you are having surgical site infection. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling for 5-7 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
