Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 2 year old son has been having an orange oily discharge.. He sits in the toilet and drops of this orange oil come out.. He does not have any other problems or health conditions. He's very active, weigth and hight are normal. No pain or fever, no vomiting, just that orange oily substance
I really appreciate your concern, the symptoms could be suggestive of protozoan infection and it can be given try with Metronidazole syrup. Dose can be adjusted according to the weight, ideally, stool needs to be sent for lab examination. The treatment here just being suggested on a tentative basis, otherwise, pediatrician is the last judge.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
