Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm currently a nursing student, 28 yr old female, who is experiencing pain after bowel movements almost on a daily basis. Sometime see red blood in my stools. Last semester was incredibly stressful and I think as a result of my diet and sedentary lifestyle I developed hemorrhoids. I've been very active before that semester and after as a marathon runner and a triathlete. Though with the stress of last semester, I worked out very little in comparison to my past. I currently use hemorrhoid suppositories which help, but I'm worried that I should get this checked out, since I use the suppositories almost daily. Is this common? Any advice or help would be great! Thanks!
Your symptoms seem to be related to hemorrhoids. Some advice that I can give to you are: - Add fiber to your diet slowly to avoid problems with gas. - Use topical treatments. - Apply an over-the-counter hemorrhoid cream or suppository containing hydrocortisone, or use pads containing witch hazel or a numbing agent. - Soak regularly in a warm bath or sitz bath.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
