What Causes Pain And Burning Sensation In The Knee?

Hi, my Dad had his 3rd hip replacement about 1 year ago.
Ever since he has been suffering with a burning sensation in the muscle just above the knee - very painful. Could this be a result of a muscle dying and preventing blood flow (clotting).
His foot is also starting to go blue - maybe bad circulating.
