What Causes Pain And Cramps In The Toes?

Hey, I'm not sure if you ever encountered someone saying they have this particulate type of foot cramp but as fare I as my experiences a lot of people get them, almost like a normal but somewhat rare occurrence with human beings (as in EVERYONE has one but not very often) and everyone agrees they are extremely painful and much more irritating then just a mild leg or stomach cramp. They seam to be different and happen not because of dehydration or too much walking but of putting your foot in a certain position or causing a certain stress somewhere in your foot (i used to get them as a child a lot when I would jump over fences). Now for my actual question...

All day today and tonight I've been getting these cramps in the same foot lasting for 15 - 20 minutes and coming back every 40- 60 minutes and every time it happens my index and middle toe separates and hovers above the others the entire time and I am unable to move them back into place without using my hands which then, when i let go they immediately fly back into that weird funny position. They are all very painful to the point where I cannot do anything at all but put my foot firmly on the floor and push down slightly as this seams to relief some pain. The pain itself is between the index and middle toe and down the middle toe from there for about half of an inch. This has been going on all day for about 18 hours now. Is there anything I can do to stop it or at least calm the pain? Is this a sign of something I'm doing wrong diet or exercise wise?

Thank you very much for taking the time to read threw all of this and sorry for so much explanation but I just feel that this type of cramp isn't the average foot cramp that's probably caused just from walking too much or dehydration, especially considering I did less then my normal amount of walking and drank the same amount of water, Gatorade and regular sugar juice I normally would any time. Once again, sorry for so much over explanation and thank you so much for your time.
