What Causes Pain And Discomfort In The Stomach?

I am experiencing upper stomach discomfort. When pushed on, it hurts. I feel bloated and am gassy. If I wear tight clothes around my stomach or slouch, it feels worse. I am not overweight, 110# 5' 60 yr old female. The feeling had started about 2 months ago. This morning, for the first time when I woke up, my stomach was feeling uncomfortable.

Hi there,

The most common cause of the abdominal discomfort you are describing is gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). The treatment is an acid reducing medication, such as prilosec, which can be taken over the counter. I'd also recommend cutting down on acidic foods, as well as other foods that increase acid production in the stomach such as coffee and chocolate. Soda will make your symptoms worse as well.

I hope this is helpful. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
