What Causes Pain And Discomfort On The Left Side Of The Stomach?

I am having pain and discomfort on the left side of my stomach about opposite of where the appendix is on the right side. This is my third day of pain there and I have iced it several times each day with no relief. Could this be just a muscle strain or could it be a hernia? I am not running a tempature. If I push on the area affected there is more pain.

Hello. Most likely neither a muscle strain or a hernia.

This sounds like diverticulitis which is an inflammation of a small pouch in the left colon. You need a course of two different antibiotics to treat it so you'll need to see your doctor right away
