What Causes Pain And Fever In A 2 Year Old?

My 2 year-old son has had fever of 99.9-101 off and on for 9 days and has complained of WTO ah pain off and on. When in pain he cries and refuses to eat. Bowels seem to be normal. took him to doctor yesterday who tested for strep which comeback negative. Tummy is not sore to the touch.

Hi.... intermittent fever for the past nine days could be viral illness or it could also be Typhoid fever.

If I were your pediatrician I would suggest doing basic blood workup along with widal test and blood culture. I at the same time will start on a course of Azithromycin for 7 days pending blood cultures. The dose would be 20 MG per KG per day as a single dose.
