What Causes Pain And Loss Of Hearing In An Elderly Person?

For the past two weeks I started experiencing hearing loss from my right ear. I am a 84 year old woman. I feel some pain in that same ear. Last spring I fell downstairs and hit my head on the floor. Do you thinks that could have caused my hearing problem?Thank you!

Hi,

I am sorry for the hearing problems you are having.

The pain you feel on your right ear could be due to any possible ear infection. Loss of hearing in that same ear is due to clogged ear most probably from infection or wax.

Further ENT examination is highly recommended to determine the right diagnosis and start appropriate treatment (locally in your ear and orally).

I do not think it's from the falling you had last Spring, but most likely is due to ear infection or wax. ENT specialist will help you further.

Wish fast recovery.
