Hello. I had been on cerazette for around 4 years, then I gave birth to my first baby in July 2014 by c section. I haven t breast fed and started taking cerazette again 2 and a half weeks ago. A couple of days later I had an achy left breast and have a small lump in it. I ve been to the docs and been referred to a consultant but I m quite worried. I have large breasts and have had 2 previous ultrasounds on my left breast due to lumps which turned out to be ok. I stopped taking the cerazette after 10 days and won t go back on it. Any advice?
Hi. Thanks for your query and an elucidate history. The probable cause of pain and lump in the breast can be the following: Galactocele- milk cyst as you had a baby recently. Fibroadenosis- gives pain and lump both. Fat necrosis which is localized.
I would advise you the following: Consult a General Surgeon to get a proper examination and clinical evaluation; FNAC under ultrasonography guidance to see the cause. Support the breast properly as advised by the nurse. Excision of the lump id doubt persists as to the nature of the lump for two reasons - 1. you get the disease out and 2. there will be histopatho diagnosis to see that the fear of cancer is ruled out.
If the cause is infective, a course of an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines will cure your problem. Cerazette may not have to anyting with the present problems as it is low progesterone pill only.
