What Causes Pain And Only Mucus When Trying To Pass Stool?
Hello I Since last week have had problems with passing stools going to the toilet has become painful and I am not in control about when I have the urge to go I get the sensation of passing the stoll but when I go to the toliet now I am getting mucus and no stool this has been going on for the last week I need some advice
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Pain with urge to pass stool is called tenesmus and passing only mucus and stool on going to toilet indicate one of the following reasons: Severe colitis with proctitis. Colon cancer. Amoebiasis. This can be diagnosed by the following ways: Clinical evaluation, examination by a General Surgeon. Tests of stool for few days. Tests of blood. Therapeutic trial with Metronidazole, antibiotic and probiotics. If there is no relief within a few days, then you need a colonoscopy, biopsy and CT scan of the abdomen. Once you get the appropriate diagnosis the treatment will be specific.
