Hello,

An x-ray is advised. The pain and swelling are due to inflammation due to the injury. The first thing to follow in any sports injury is to follow the RICE protocol. You should rest the injured part in the crepe bandage and immobilize it. Post which you can do some icing to reduce the pain. Take an x-ray to check for any bony injury.

As I see from history this must be a ligament and tendon injury which will heal with rest and compression bandage. But as I mentioned earlier an x-ray is a must for safer side.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
