What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Knees?

My Husband got sick this week. We had been on a trip on Saturday June 23rd 2018 . On Monday he got up to go to work he was nauseas and his knees hurt and he had ty trouble walking I took him to urgent care did chest xray he had pneumonia with Meds and sent him home. Tuesday June 26th 2018 I took up the hospital because he was worse. He now has sepsis but he is not responding to the meds they are giving him. He has joint pain swelling in his knees they are red. His left arm his swollen. He can t walk now. Mouth sores. DR shave run every test they know to find a cure. Please help
