What Causes Pain And Swelling In Wrist After Injury?

Hello. Two Thursdays ago I fell off of a ten foot ladder and landed on an outstretched arm. My hand/ wrist began to hurt and immediately swelled up. I went to the doctor the next day and they saw no fractures in the xray and sent me home. A week from then, I went back as it is not healing it is bruising and still swollen, just not as swollen as it was right after the injury. It was a different clinic and they xrayed it, no fracture, sent me home. Could this be a scaphoid fracture?

Hi
Welcome to healhcaremagic
After going through your query I concluded that you may be having wrist sprain. Treatment of it is rest to the joint, analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. Vitamin B and C are helpful in recovery. You want to know that can itbe scaphoid fracture. You have already got your x ray done twice. They are not showing fracture. However you get its CT scan done to exclude scaphoid fracture because it may not be seen in normal x Rays in early days. You can discuss with your Doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to help you.
Wishing you a good health. Take care.
