What Causes Pain And Tenderness Behind Ears?

I am a 54 year old female and have a 3 day history of worsening pain and tenderness on the mastoid process area behind my right ear, the area is more swollen and is starting to redden. I have a history of pains in the back of my head over this period as well. A couple of months ago I had lots of these strange pains in the back of my head but they resolved until reoccurring a few days ago. When I turn my head to the left I have pain in the mastoid area and I now have discomfort in my neck and head at the back with intermittent discomfort and pain over the back of my head down my neck.

swelling with pain indicates infection; well nothing to worry about this!

however, it could be an infected sebaceous cyst or simply a folliculitis or infection of the hair follicles!

in worse case it could be some neurological pain or related to ear infection too.

have an FNAC test that might help to diagnose it accurately!
