Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having pains in my left leg, behind the knee in the calf area for the past few weeks. it helps to use ibuprofen but I don t want to take a lot of that. I m 71 but in great shape, swim almost a quarter mile 5 days a week and walk regularly 3-6 miles.
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Pain this long in the calf area, i would expect a muscle tear. 2. Deep vein thrombus possibility is low, however a venous doppler of lower limbs will confirm. 3. If not DVT, mild rest is necessary. If severe pain, you can take ibuprofen. Hope there are no severe dilated veins in the leg. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
