Upon stifling a yawn, I often get a severe cramping sensation behind my left ear. It lasts from maybe 30 seconds to several minutes. I try manipulating my neck in different directions, moving my head around. The pain is often excruciating, the worst cramping sensation ever.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Cramping pain behind the ears may be due to neuralgia or sternocleidomastoid muscle spasm or infection of herpes zoster etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Check for middle ear infection also. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
