What Causes Pain Behind The Left Breast And Shortness Of Breath?

I'm having episodes of pain right behind the left breast. Its accompanied by slight shortness of breath and my voice seems muffled. When this happens the pain and shortness of breath lasts for about 5 minutes and then it seems to go away. Is this serious and should I seek immediate medical attention?
