What Causes Pain During Intercourse With Burning Sensation?

I used Advantan cream for approximately 2 years for an itch in my vagina. When I saw another Doctor I was told to stop using it straight away, which I did. I discovered the itch was caused by leaking and since using panty liners the itch has gone. However, I have extremely painful sex, and lubricants give a burning sensation. I am 59yrs old.
