What Causes Pain In Chest After Swallowing Hot Food?

I was heating chicken in a 200 degree Celcius oven that someone else had prepared for me. When it was very hot and ready to eat I started serving it onto plates. I stupidly put some of the sauce on a spoon to taste it and did not realise it would be so hot, as I later learnt it was oil based sauce. I was so hot I should have spit it out but instead I swallowed it. I did the opposite of what I should have done. I realised I had burnt my throat and today I feel mild pain in my chest. I think I have also burnt my esophagus. Will I be Okay or have I done some permanent damage. Should I see my Doctor or is the esophagus tough and heal in time?

Burn injury, due to hot foods depends on the temperature, amount and co existent factors like acidity.

you can start antacid syrup. in case of persistent symptoms needs ent consultation for laryngoscopy and oral antibiotic course.
