I have had twice sudden onset pain across my chest and into both arms. Difficult to describe. It only lasts seconds but it felt very unusual. I am a 63 yr. old female in good health and physically fit. Saturday afternoon I went for a bike ride; which did not feel strenuous. A few minutes after returning home I had what I am going to call a spell - unusual feeling across my chest into both arms - felt almost paralyzing for a few short second. I was fine shortly after. Do you have any thoughts what this could be?
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM. I think we should rule out cardiac cause first in your case. Risk factors in your case are 1. Old age 2. Female 3. Chest discomfort with radiation to arm. So get done 1. ECG 2. 2D echo to rule out cardiac cause. If both are normal then no need to worry much for cardiac cause. You may have compression of nerves momentarily which gives you feeling of paralysed upper limbs. No need to worry much for these.
