Hey, I've had been given famotidine because I had chest pain when I laid down on my back. I took famotidine for 4-5 days. And chest pain went away. So the doctor said to stop taking famotidine. I've had headaches for 2 days and joint pain and doctor said they were symtoms. Now I have had abdominal pain upper left/right and just want to know if it's a symtom or something more serious. They did a x - ray and came out ok.
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
Famotidine is a medication given for acid peptic disease / stomach ulcers. This can often present with pain or discomfort in the upper abdomen or in the chest. So, it is likely that your doctor had prescribed you Famotidine for the acidity / ulcers.
The upper abdominal pain which you are experiencing now also seems to be a symptom of the acid peptic disease and since you've already seen a doctor and had investigations, you needn't worry about it. You can take antacid syrup or tablets, avoid spicy / oily food and drink cold milk to relieve your symptoms.
Wish you all the best.
Regards, Dr. Jonas Sundarakumar
