Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a occasional pain in my knuckle on my index finger on my right hand. When I put pressure on it to see where the exact pain it only occurs on the left hand side of the knuckle. Sometimes I might just be doing something & out of the blue it is affected & painful & can last about a couple of hours at a time or several times a day. At first it just started off as a dull pain in my knuckle then would go. Now when it occurs it kind of travels up my arm no pain but just a sensation. Also when I move it towards the rest of my fingers the pain is more severe & when occurs my finger kind of stiffens up a bit. I have not changed any of my day to day schedule so would not have damaged it any way. I m 21 years old!! Any recommendations on what it could be?

Thanks for the query. This may be a button hole deformity of your index finger. If I were your doctor I would prefer a finger splint to your index finger for 2 weeks along with some analgesics. You can always consult an ortho doctor.
