Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello, my grandmother, 86, has been complaining of pain in her legs for some time. She just complained again about the pain and said that there was an indentation on her leg. Surely it is. It looks as if something has been lying on the leg for sometime and created an impression. She is refusing to go to the doctor. I just need to know if this is serious enough to insist she goes. Thanks
In old age the density of bones is quite sparse, that does one prone minor fractures. More so in post menopausal old females as they very commonly have calcium deficiency. Persistant pain as in her case is quite suggestible of such minor fracture. As the bone of shin is not so protected by muscles around is prone for injuries. I suggest an X-ray of tibia and an orthopedician consultation.
