What Causes Pain In Legs After Taking Losartan?

I am taking 100mg of losartan and after a month, my right leg is giving me shooting pains and aches.I am active but have not had any injuries. I am going to call my Cardiologist tomorrow but was wondering if I can cut it in half tonight. I do not have HBP but am on it for an aneurysm and stenosis of the aortic valve.

Hi
Thanks for choosing HCM for your query.

I appreciate your concern for the shooting pains in the right leg.

In addition to other side effects, Losartan can cause mild type of muscle pain involving the leg in some patients.
It is unlikely to cause shooting pains.
Shooting pains in the leg which aggravate during walking are suggestive of some problem with the blood supply to the leg muscles could be due to obstruction in the arteries supplying.
Since you have aortic aneursym some times peripheral artery ( like popliteal artery) aneurysms co-exist with aortic aneurysm.
Aneurysms in the popliteal artery, which runs down the back of your lower thigh and knee.

Kindly visit your cardiologist to rule out the possible causes of shooting pains in the right leg including an aneurysm in the femoral or popliteal artery.

I hope your doubt has been clarified.
if convinced kindly reply with a feed back.
