What Causes Pain In Little Toe After Getting Hit?

In June 2013, I rammed my pinkie toe into the edge of a carpet cleaner. I did not have it looked at until October. I fractured 3 toes. Since then, I ve had a MRI, and xrays. Nothing showed up only the fractures have healed. But I have still have big problems with the foot. The pain keeps me up at night. I cannot find a comfortable position to where that side of my foot will not hurt. Maybe nerve problems? My family doctor told me to run my foot across a frozen bottle of water. Helps for a minute. Any other tests I could have done? I just want to cut my foot off. My life has not been the same since. Are there foot specialist? I ve been to 2 foot drs. I m just not sure where to turn to next. If I want to subside the pain, Advil..but I hate taking it EVERYDAY. Nothing I do seems to help.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
you had fractures, which is a trauma, and in trauma its not the bones alone that break, there is injury to adjoining tissue, which includes very fine nerves and vessels. now bone healing is seen in X ray and MRI, but these structures cannot be assessed, and usually is not required as they heal with time. BUT, there is a condition called CRPS(complex regional pain syndrome) that gets incited in a small number of patients after trauma, where your protective sympathetic system of nerves become over active, you feel pain regularly, hyperaesthesia, which means touch feels like pain, the skin gets swollen and shiny, but in certain patients these symptoms may not be this typical.

Now the crutch of the matter is.
the treatment of this condition is not with foot surgeons or orthopods.
these are best treated by Pain specialist, and you need to consult one of them, where do you live if you can tell may be I can refer you to such a specialist.
