What Causes Pain In Lower Abdomen And Blood In Stools?

My 3yr old son had some mild pain in his lower abdomen, he went poop and when he pooped for the third time there was bright red blood on his tissue. I looked in the toilet and there was blood and round ball of tissue about 2cm in diameter. I pulled it out of the toilet and rinsed it off. The mass is intact and looks like it had a stem and it snapped off from something. It resembles a skinless grape, but it tissue colored. My son is not in pain and does not seem to be bleeding from his rectum. Shoud I be concerned enough to take him in and have him checked out?
