What Causes Pain In Lower Left Side Of Abdomen And Lump In Rectal Area?

Hi. I have been constipated for the last week and I now have pain in the lower left side of my abdomen. I also have a lump in my rectal area. How soon should I go in to be seen? And how serious is it? I have a Dr. s appointment in two days, am I able to wait until then?

Thank you for contacting us.

Lump in the rectal area makes me think of hard stools or hemorrhoids or prolapse (a condition where the lining of the rectum falls of into the lumen of the rectum).

Left lower abdominal pain can be from diverticulitis.

Are you having any anal/rectal pain or fever or bright red blood ?

If you feel dizzy or light headed or fever you must be seen in the ED urgently.
