What Causes Pain In My Calf Muscles On Exercising?

i was exercising yesterday doing jump squats step ups short sprints ect and since then my left leg the muscle in the calf really hurts i can really feel it if i flex my leg feel almost as it is bruised what could this be also why do my shins hurt sometimes when i run
